Ok so a brief follow up of yesterday’s kick off on my weight loss journey. It started out easy and got progressively harder! I peed all day which wasn’t too bad. I was feeling fine but got hungry real fast after eating and had to keep eating fruit and soup. Now the diet plan says you can have all the soup and fruit you want (except bananas) mind you. But what they don’t tell you is to be careful in over eating the fruit. Because around 10 pm when I settled in to bed and got real cozy a sadistic migraine hit me (Probably a sugar crash from all of the fruit I had eaten). It was so bad that I felt slightly dizzy and felt like my head was a ticking time bomb riding on a bumpy roller coaster at Satan’s Amusement Park. It definitely wasn’t a lack of water because I drank 11 cups of water yesterday which was much more than I can usually do. (Disclaimer- I don’t want to scare you. I just want to warn you all in case you are starting this diet so that you are prepared. This was my first time ever detoxing so I didn’t know what to expect.)
On day one, eat plenty of fruit, but I recommend incorporating one or two avocados. Many don’t know that they are a fruit but they have a pit which makes them belong to the fruit family because they are so savory! The reason I recommend this (Man do I wish I would have realized this earlier in the day) is because they only have 1 gram of sugar per avocado. They also contain protein and fiber which is a plus. They are a little more fatty, so I wouldn’t eat them all day.
Anyway, back to the story at hand, I ate all that fruit and soup and I also exercised doing some walking and 20 minutes of the Sworkit App (6 pack ab challenge- quite neighbor edition). Where I messed up but didn’t know what else to do was that I ate a midnight snack. The snack was still along the guidelines of the diet. But know you are not supposed to eat late on a diet if possible for digestion and metabolism reasons. This is why I wish I would have known to suck it up earlier and eat more soup.
I didn’t want to eat late at all, what-so-ever. But I was so incredibly hungry and my head was pounding so hard that I didn’t have much of a choice if I wanted to get any rest to make it into work this morning. I digress… I caved and got up and ate. I got up and ate an avocado. When that didn’t fully work, but I realized it was helping, I got up again and ate another bowl of the sacred heart diet fat burning soup. I ate a total of 5 bowls of the soup yesterday from the period of 8am to 1am. This being said, I felt like I lost much more weight and am much less bloated but I only lost .3 lbs yesterday. Oh and did I mention about an hour after the migraine hit, my Aunt Flow showed up to visit as well! This night just kept getting better. I didn’t go to sleep until around 2 or 2:30 am. I did get to be up when my fiancé got home from work though which was nice. And since my Aunt Flow is here, it’s actually quite nice to not be bloated during her visit which I don’t think has ever happened while on my period, ever. I always blow up in the tummy like a whale. But not this time! Go detox!
Today I am to only eat vegetables. The goal is to try to eat lots of leafy green veggies all day with the soup and avoid peas, beans, and corn. I’m assuming the dieticians who planned this want you to avoid the peas, beans, and corn because they tend to have more sugar and salt content in them and that corn doesn’t digest (random gross fact of the day).
So for breakfast I have started out my day with a salad (consisting mostly of spinach) for breakfast. When I type that out, it sounds kind of funny to me but it’s actually not so bad! The diet plan does not say that you can have bottled salad dressing, so I’m assuming you can’t. But I did make my own healthy dressing.
My homemade salad dressing:
1 tbsp pickle juice
3 tbsp spinach and artichoke hummus (chickpeas yum!!)
.15 tsp ground ginger (roughly- just a dash)
.3 grams salt (roughly- a pinch)
.15 tbsp. garlic powder (also- just a dash)
2-3 tbsp. olive oil (to add some healthy fat to it to help digest it quicker)
.25 tbsp. ground black pepper (a little over a dash)
Does this sound healthy guys? Let me know what you think.
For lunch I will be eating two cups or so of the soup and may bring some carrots or something with me to work to munch on in case I do get hungry. I’m not one for raw veggies, but I’m determined! I’ll keep you posted!
